Footage of the upcoming Deadwood film shows ruthless saloon owner Al Swearengen install a swear box on the bar to try and clean up the language a bit.

The swear box will require patrons to pay five cents for a standard swear word and a dime for one of the really bad ones.

Starting with a static shot of the bar, we see a grizzled hand slam down a can, followed by a sign saying ‘swear box.’

“To be honest, I’ve never been fond of the bad language in Deadwood,” said writer David Milch.

“It was the studio insisted on all the swearing to try and seem cool.

“From my part, I always thought that it was a bit juvenile. Likewise all the sex and violence. Not really my thing.”

However, with the new Deadwood film, Milch is able to assert a bit more control as evidenced by Swearengen’s dialogue in the new footage.

After installing the swear box, the camera pans up Swearengen.

“Alright, you numpties,” he growls.

“I’m sick of all the flipping bad language in here, and if you don’t stop, there’ll be heck to pay.

“So, if I hear any of you snickerdoodles cursing then you’ve got to put your flaming money in the flaming swear box.

“You mother hubbards.”

The news is sure to appeal to all Deadwood fans who didn’t like all the swearing and bad language of the original show.

Sadly, he was unavailable for comment.
