DC and Marvel multiverses accidentally combine to create unstable cinematic milliverse

An unstable cinematic milliverse has been accidentally created after the Marvel and DC multiverses combined following a laboratory mishap.

“Obviously, the technology for cinematic multiverses is still new,” said Stewart James, a Professor of Made-Up science who works on the Marvel multiverse.

“So, both DC and Marvel use the same laboratories to work on their separate multiverses.

“We were in there yesterday, working on bringing in 70’s TV show Hulk into the Marvel multiverse and, I don’t know, I guess someone was doing a multiverse equation, forgot to carry the one and then, when no one was looking, the two multiverses combined into one big unstable milliverse.”

A milliverse has only been considered in theoretical terms until now. Where as a multiverse is an ordered series of different versions of the same reality. A milliverse is a highly unstable construct that contains different versions of different realities. So, a reality in which everyone is normal and wears hats could be sat next to a reality in which the entire universe is Bulgaria and everyone is a giraffe called Barry.

The instability of the milliverse is the main concern as it could begin to suck in other realities at will. In cinematic terms, this means that a new Spiderman film could see any other cinematic universes bleed in to it, from the Crocodile Dundee universe to the Carry On universe to the eighties Electric Blue video universe.

Scientists are currently working to try and stabilise the milliverse. But it is already starting to cause problems.

“We’re going to have to push back the release date of Moon Knight,” continued Professor James.

“There’s smurfs all over episode four, and halfway through the finale, everything floods and Kevin Costner turns up with gills.

“It’s our worst nightmare.”
