On average, the soaring price of buying a tub of popcorn from the cinema food counter has matched the price of the production of the average large-scale Hollywood summer blockbuster, say people who went to the pictures this week.
Filmgoer Barry Bananas, said, “I went to see a film last week and, it was lucky I turned up three months early, as I had to round up some financiers in order to purchase a small box of salty popcorn at the counter.
“I had to arrange a meeting with them – and they’re all very busy, you know – before pitching to them right there in the foyer.
“They were interested in how my attempt to eat some confectionary would be to their benefit, and, more specifically what their returns on investment would be.
“When it turned out all they would be getting would be the filmy bit of the kernels, that I would recover from my toilet water, they declined. Even though I promised to wipe the poop off them with antibacterial baby wipes.
“Overall, they remained unconvinced and me and my wife had to go without popcorn for the duration of Jurassic World 2.”
The price of the confectionary drug is expected to dwarf the cost of this year’s Mission: Impossible film come next May.
