Channel 4 to show 18-rated uncensored version of Raymond Briggs’ ‘The Snowman’

Channel 4 has announced that, for the first time ever, it will show the full, uncensored version of Raymond Briggs’ The Snowman.

It will be shown at 10pm, well after the watershed, and will be preceded with the warning that it is unsuitable for anyone under the age of 18.

“For nearly 40 years now, Raymond Briggs’ The Snowman on Channel 4 has been become part of the Christmas tradition for families across the country,” said Stewart James, of Channel 4.

“However, no one has ever seen the original version of the film, shown uncensored as the director originally intended.”

The film is known as a charming, thirty-minute adventure about a little boy and a snowman as they fly across the country, visit a snowman party and meet Santa Claus, however the original version is very different.

“The original is just over an hour long,” explained Mr James.

“It begins with a brutal murder of a prostitute. Police are baffled, the only clue is a small dusting of snow around the corpse. Walking away, chuckling to himself, is an evil snowman.

“The Snowman from the version we are familiar with is actually a hard-bitten, alcoholic detective snowman who comes over to our reality to track down the murderous snowman.

“You still get the flight over Britain, but that is actually a chase sequence as the snowman murderer kidnaps the boy’s mother and the Snowman and the boy race to catch him before he brutally dismembers her.

“It’s actually set to a Megadeth song, not Aled Jones as in the original.

“The whole thing culminates in a brutal and bloody battle between good and evil snowmen that sees the snow stained red with the blood of thousands of dead snowmen.”

Channel Four is also planning on showing the original, uncensored version of Raymond Briggs’ Father Christmas with full-frontal nudity, threesomes and the hugely controversial Reindeer fellatio scene.
