It’s the weekend. Perhaps Lord Henry Hampton-DeWinter will be holding one of his magnificent balls (!). If you find yourself too overcome to attend, you could enjoy these great films instead.
Saturday
Gravity BBC1 20.35
Sandra Bullock breaks a space shuttle and a satellite. Rubbish astronaut. Alfonso Cuaron won an Oscar for Best Space.
Love Actually 5* 21.00
Heartwarming festive Christmas classic about a stalker, a horny Prime Minister and a mediocre drummer. Perfect viewing for the hottest summer since dinosaurs roamed the tropical rainforests of Essex.
2012 5* 10.05
Documentary about those terrible events eight years ago when California fell into the sea, France caught fire, and everyone had to go and live on a boat with John Cusack and one of the Musketeers.
Sunday
Boyhood Film4 23.40
Boy gets older. The end.
Paddington Film4 17.15
Classic comedy about the hilarious antics of a mainline London railway station.
Mamma Mia ITV 19.00
I don’t understand this. Take some of the best songs ever written and make Pierce Brosnan honk them?
Nah, put Abba Gold on, drink some wine and have a little dance instead. Much more fun.
Netflix Film of the weekend
Scent of a Woman
Hoo-Haa! Al Pacino does blind acting in stinky well-we’ve-got-to-give-him-an-Oscar-for-something 90s classic.
