BBC announces line of News at Ten presenter collectable action figures

The BBC has announced that a new line of collectable action figures based on News at Ten presenters will be launched later this year.

The figures will be based on some of the most popular News at Ten presenters, including Michael Buerk and Huw Edwards.

“These are great gifts for the News at Ten enthusiast,” insisted BBC Head of News Fran Unsworth.

“They’re beautifully detailed and fully poseable, so you can have Peter Sissons standing up and holding a piece of paper or Natasha Kaplinsky pressing a finger to her ear as she struggles to hear an outside broadcast.”

There will also be a number of props available including a chair, camera and backgrounds.

“They are beautiful props and with them, you will be able to set up a wonderful recreation of just about any News at Ten episode since its inception in 2003 – from the dramatic scenes of David Cameron’s resignation to the excitement of the 2012 Olympics – the only limit is your imagination.”

Fans were excited.

“I’m excited,” tweeted Kelly Grace, a fan

“I’ll probably get George Alagiah and Sophie Raworth first but I really love Huw Edwards, so I might ask for him for my birthday.

“This is going to be so great.”

However, there was disappointment for fans of the pre-2003 BBC Nine O’Clock News as its presenters would not be included in the line-up.

“No,” spat Ms Unsworth.

“We never mention that time.”
