“It’s Batman, he fights crime under the cover of night. He’s tortured but he’s a genius, the world’s greatest detective…and he’s not wearing trousers and pants.”
Matt Reeves leans back in his chair and smiles.
“We needed to do something different with the character. It was time for a change. I’d wrestled with it for months. What if Batman was a horse instead of a man? What if Batman lived up a tree? What if Batman used all his skills and money to make really amazing kimchi rather than fight crime?
“Then it hit me. He’s Batman. He’s fighting crime. But he’s got his bits and pieces out while he does so.”
Reeves’ new concept will give a new vulnerability to the classic character.
“That’s it,” agreed the director.
“It’s a vulnerability. Well, you would feel vulnerable battling ten henchman in an alleyway with your plums out. A well placed kick and the Dark Knight is down.”
The new sequel will explain the new look Batman.
“Yes. I actually didn’t want to explain it initially,” said Reeves, thoughtfully.
“I just want to open the picture at night. The Penguin is about to commit a crime and then, out of the darkness steps the Batman, the moonlight casting his cock and balls in shadow against the wall.
“But, it’s such a wild new look, we needed to explain it. It’s pretty simple; Alfred screws up the laundry schedule and Batman is forced to patrol Gotham without his trousers and pants on. At first, he sticks to the shadows, but as the night goes on, he starts to enjoy the feeling of the night air whistling past his parts as he roundhouse kicks a henchman to the ground. Having his bits out becomes part of who he is.”
As well as Batman, Joker will also be balls-out in this new film.
“Joker and Batman? They’re very much two sides of the same coin. So when Joker sees Batman with his nuts and sausage swinging about, he immediately takes his own trousers and pants off.”
The film features an epic pantsless battle between the two adversaries.
“It’s pretty great. I’ve never seen anything like it,” laughed Reeves.
“Think Women in Love but with superhero costumes, and then a really great conclusion. You won’t believe what Batman does with his Batclaw
The Batman II is scheduled for 2027 and the series of movie tie-in action figures are expected to sell out particularly quickly.
