Apex Legends to introduce new ‘nice cup of tea and a chat’ mode

Hugely successful new battle royale shooter Apex Legends next major update will include the brand new ‘nice cup of tea and a chat’ mode in which players will be able to have a cup of tea and a nice chat with each other.

The new mode is in response to demands from players who have found the breathless run-and-gun gameplay too intense and are looking for something a little more relaxed.

“Biggest thing we get asked,” said producer Tina Sanchez.

“These kids, they’re just emailing all the time. Like ‘hey guys, great game but it’s a bit much, how about a ‘nice cup of tea and a chat’ mode.

“So, you know, we want to listen to the community so we stopped work on solo mode and campaign mode and went straight to work on the ‘nice cup of tea’ mode.”

As from next week, a new option – ‘nice cup of tea and a chat’ – will appear on the main Apex Legends menu screen.

Once selected, players will be given five minutes to make themselves a nice cup of tea before being loaded into a newly created in-game tea shop where they can enjoy their nice cup of tea and a chat with other players.

However, although it currently seems that Apex Legends can do no wrong, before introducing the new mode, producers would do well to remember that players can be notoriously fickle in their demands.

In 2014, the most popular game in the world was multiplayer shooter Platinum Avatar, and when it introduced a much-requested ‘coffee and conversation’ mode it proved so unpopular that everyone stopped playing the game and it is now almost completely forgotten.
