Amazon Prime secures rights to all previous seasons of News at Ten

Amazon Prime has announced that it has secured the rights to the entire back-catalogue of ITV’s seminal News at Ten series.

Beginning with the early 14-minute episodes from 1967, News at Ten fans will be able to binge-watch the entire catalogue right up until 2015 and the culmination of the thrilling Ed Milliband storyline.

“This is amazing news,” said Kelly Grace, a News at Ten fan wearing a News at Ten t-shirt and News at Ten cap.

“I mean this is the next month of my life taken care of, I’m watching them all.

“I’ll probably start with the Dermot Murnaghan years, the nineties. They were my favourite.

“Not just Dermot, although I did have a bit of a crush – I used to have a poster of him on my wall. But it’s not just Dermot, I loved all the Maastricht and European stuff. It was just such an interesting plot. Who could have seen Black Wednesday coming?”

Amazon was bullish about the success of the classic current affairs programme on the platform.

“As the leading provider of old TV shows that Netflix didn’t want, securing the rights to the News at Ten catalogue is a real coup for us.

“This is going to take pride of place on the Amazon Prime homepage just above that long list of Bosnian tennis matches that have already happened and just below the list of films that look like are available as part of Amazon Prime, but when you click through, you have to pay for.”

Stewart James, a desperately bored dad of three from Chorley, admitted he and his family would be watching the series.

“Well, it’s either this or rewatch Lost, so it’s no contest, really.”
