The woman at the centre of an arthouse cinema fart controversy is insistent that an explosive sound of wind breaking came from the film itself and was nothing to do with her.
Maud Andersson had been enjoying an afternoon screening of death chess classic The Seventh Seal when witnesses reported a loud ‘fart’ noise.
“Everyone turned to look at me,” said a distressed Ms Andersson.
“I still don’t really understand why. The noise was clearly in the film and had nothing to do with me.”
She even went on to claim she knew who in the film had issued the rectal thunderclap.
“It was one of the peasants in film. Dreadful behaviour, but that’s peasants for you. Anyway, it was nothing to do with me.”
However, other patrons disputed Ms Andersson’s claim.
“This is a classic work of art by one of the great masters of the form,” said Max Gill who had also been enjoying the film.
“No one farts in it. You can’t have a thoughtful treatise on the nature of life and death with a big fart in the middle.
“Even if it did have a fart in it, it certainly wasn’t filmed in smell-o-vision, which it would have had to have been for the cinema to smell like that.
“It was like a horse had died.”
Ms Andersson continues to maintain her innocence and insist the anal abomination was in the film.
However, as it has emerged that she has previously claimed that there are farts in Cinderella, Melancholia, and silent classic Sunrise, her claims seem increasingly less credible.
