West Wing reboot sees rebel Bartlet retake the White House by force

Further details of the new West Wing reboot have been revealed and have raised a few eyebrows amongst fans.

The plot of the new six-episode series will tell of how ex-President Bartlet decides to stage a military coup and, with a small group of crack liberal-intellectuals, he sets about retaking the White House by force.

“Yeah, I’d been trying to figure a new story for a while now,” said creator Aaron Sorkin

“You know, an intense, character piece about life after controlling the most powerful country on the planet. Lots of really smart people in rooms talking to each other with subtext.

“But then I thought No, why have a bunch of smart men talking in rooms when I could just have men blowing sh*t up, which is what men do. Then, when they’ve blown all the sh*t up, you finish with Bartlet, shirt hanging in tatters from his chest, with one foot on the Resolute Desk and waving the American flag in triumph with Sam playing a screaming guitar solo behind him.”

It’s a surprising departure for the man who wrote Steve Jobs, famously an entire film about a number of smart people having conversations with each other in rooms with subtext.

“Yeah, I don’t know what I was thinking there. People talking? I mean, who wants to watch that? It’s nuts,” continued Mr Sorkin

If successful, the revered writer has plans for a follow-up to the new mini-series.

“Yeah, Bartlet and Toby in full camouflage gear, infiltrate North Korea, assassinate Kim Jong-Un, and make the peninsula the 51^st state of the USA,” he shouts, punching the air.

“Now that’s the real West Wing!”
