Vue cinemas have announced a ban on all further screenings of animated hit Frozen 2 in case people are encouraged to go off on magical adventures in Arendelle.
The news comes in the wake of a decision to ban Blue Story because there was a brawl near a screening of the film in Birmingham and there was a concern that it could lead to further brawls near screenings.
“Look, it’s not Stalinist Russia, we don’t just ban films from our cinemas for the sake of it,” explained Vue executive Stewart James, unconvincingly.
“There is a very real concern about Frozen 2.
“It’s proved really popular and the magical adventures in Arendelle it depicts are really appealing, so I think that it’s a legitimate concern that people could be influenced, after seeing it, to go off and have their own magical adventures in Arendelle.”
Fans were disappointed, but largely agreed.
“It’s probably for the best,” said Kelly Grace.
“I must confess, I thought of going on a magical adventure in Arendelle when I went to see it last Sunday, but I’d eaten my own body-weight in malteasers and had a presentation to do the next day at work, so I didn’t.
“It was close though.”
It is understood that Vue are also currently considering bans on Last Christmas in case it encourages people to give other people their heart, and Midway in case people are encouraged to start a big war in the Pacific.
