Timothee Chalamet to take break from acting and search for lost city of Atlantis

Timothee Chalamet has announced that, following the release of Dune, he will take a break from acting to search for the lost undersea city of Atlantis.

The ancient Greek city was submerged in the Atlantic after its citizens angered the gods and has been the subject of fascination for scholars throughout history, including Call Me By Your Name star Chalamet.

“I have been immensely proud of my work with Greta [Gerwig] and everyone else in the industry,” said Chalamet as he used a press conference to announce his expedition.

“But I feel like the time has come for me to move on from playing sensitive and handsome young men in well-regarded indie dramas, and put all my energy into my life’s true passion – discovering the lost city of Atlantis.”

Chalamet used a combination of personal wealth and private investment to create ‘The Poseidon’ – a luxury submarine that contains bedrooms, kitchen and dining areas, a small combination bowling alley/cinema and, confusingly, an underwater jacuzzi.

Chalamet has assembled a crew of ten, including first mate and Call Me By Your Name co-star Arnie Hammer. Together, they will spend eight months scouring the ocean floor for clues to the location of doomed city.

Other Atlantis scholars wished him well, but were sceptical as to how successful the expedition would be.

“Timothee has clearly put a lot of thought into the project and has a fine crew and state-of-the-art technology, but there is one thing he hasn’t taken into account,” said Kelly Grace, Classics professor.

“Atlantis is fictional. As such, with the best will in the world, it’s going to prove incredibly difficult to find.”

Undeterred, Timothee Chalamet will begin his quest for Atlantis at the end of next month.

Friends are hoping it will prove more successful than Melanie Griffith’s disastrous quest for El Dorado in 1989.
