Following the huge success of It: Chapter 2, a third film has been reportedly greenlit.
A departure from the books, It: Chapter 3 will feature a defeated and humbled Pennywise the clown open a nice antique store in the pretty coastal town of Bar Harbour in Maine.
The film will show Pennywise attempting to turn his life around after an eternity of evil and become a useful and valued member of the community.
“He’s been defeated and he’s been humiliated,” explains producer Stewart James.
“He’s forced to re-evaluate his life choices and he’s like – ‘you know, I’m not sure that the personification of evil is really for me.’”
Slowly, we see Pennywise find his place in the community by not murdering thousands of children and living in the sewers, but just trying to lead a normal, quiet life.
“Yeah, but it’s a struggle for him,” continues James.
“He opens his antique shop, he sells a few nice vases and makes friends with the pretty barista in the coffee shop over the road and then, you know, he burns down an orphanage.
“And that’s it, that’s the drama. Will he be a nice antique dealer or return to his old ways of murder and death?
“I guess, at its heart, it’s a simple tale about a supernatural clown being the best darn supernatural clown he can be.”
It: Chapter 3 will be released in 2021 and if successful, will be followed by It: Chapter 4 in which Pennywise cures malaria and has a number one hit record.
