The Conjuring 4, the latest in the hugely successfully franchise, will see paranormal investigators Lorraine and Ed Warren investigate the ghost from Ghost – Sam Wheat.
“Sam Wheat from Ghost is one of the most evil, manipulative entities the Warrens ever did battle with,” explained director James Wan.
“After becoming a ghost, he frames his best friend for drug dealing, murders him, possesses an innocent young woman – Oda Mae, and ruins a perfectly good pot his old girlfriend Molly was making.”
After a largely sanitised and fictionalised account was made into a hit film in the nineties, the Warrens were called in to get rid of the evil Sam.
“By this point, the malevolence of the ghost was out of control. Whenever Molly tried to do pottery, Sam would just be there and ruin it for her. He kept possessing Oda Mae, and making her get off with women, and he’d terrify innocent passers-by by playing the Righteous Brothers at them,” continued Wan.
The Conjuring 4 will document the Warren’s battle with Sam, that left Elizabeth with Unchained Melody as an earworm for the rest of her life.
“The Warrens went through a lot on this case. I mean, in The Devil Made Me Do It, Ed had a heart attack, but, having Unchained Melody going round your head forever is something else altogether.”
The Conjuring 4: All My Love will begin filming next year and, if successful, there are already plans for The Conjuring 5 which will see the Warrens face off against the ghosts of the 1919 Boston White Sox who haunted an innocent farmer in the late 80s.
