Sony hit back at diskless Xbox with announcement of console with no disk, controller, or HDMI

Sony have struck back following Microsoft’s announcement of the Xbox Digital, a diskless version of their popular Xbox system.

The new PlayStation Minimalism will also not feature adisk drive, but will go even further by having no controller, or HDMI cables.

“Hey, we respect Microsoft and its Xbox Digital,” said head of PlayStation America Shawn Layden.

“You know, releasing a console that can’t play games on disks? Hell of a move.

“But, listen, if you want a console that does even less than the Xbox Digital then the PlayStation Minimalism is for you. No disks, obviously. But there is also no controller, so you can’t play any games at all and no HDMI, so you can’t even connect it to the TV.”

However, Microsoft hit back immediately with the Xbox No-Digital.

“Its important to us that we offer the least amount of functionality possible on a console,” said Xbox brand head Phil Spencer.

“So, now we’ve got the Xbox No-Digital which has no disk drive, controller, HDMI, or even any method of connecting to the Internet to download games. It’s just a plastic box with some wires in.

“Fans of low-function consoles know that Microsoft is the place for them.”

Intriguingly though, Sega could well end up trumping both Sony and Microsoft.

“Yeah, we’re getting back in the console game if this is how easy it is,” said Sega CEO Hajime Satomi.

“We’re announcing the Sega Empty Box.

“Which is just an empty box.”
