Season 2 of The Last of Us to showcase Joel’s fancy baking skills

Season 2 of The Last of Us was announced this week, and showrunner Neil Druckmann has confirmed that it will feature much more of Joel’s fancy baking skills.

The first few episodes of The Last of Us have garnered praise from critics and fans alike, with the exception of those who are afraid of homosexuals, but there has been some disquiet over the lack of fancy baking from Pedro Pascal’s Joel.

“Trust me, the baking is coming,” explained Druckmann.

“The first season we needed to set everything up with the world-building, and the big action set-pieces and terrifying Infected, but season two is going to focus much more on Joel’s incredible baking skills.”

He promised the season will open with a huge baking set-piece.

“We’re in this pretty sizeable community, Joel has his own cabin with a kitchen and is just going crazy baking. He’s whisking, rolling out pastry, he’s reducing a crème anglaise, there’s a meringue in the oven – it’s everything fans expect from Joel.

“Ellie hears something happening and goes to Joel’s cabin to investigate and finds he’s prepared a floating island dessert and some fondant fancies – bang, we’re into the new season.”

Druckmann went on to confirm that the season will be based around a post-apocalyptic version of The Great British Bake-Off. Joel enters and is planning to make a big Black Forest Gateau but finds he doesn’t have any glace cherries, so Ellie and her new girlfriend have to go off on a desperate quest to find some.

With season 2 of The Last of Us set to focus much more on fancy baking, it is thought that fans will have to wait till season 3 for the exciting basket-weaving and crocheting scenes that proved so popular in the games.
