Purveyor of ‘amusing’ movie ‘news’ Screen Idle has added advertising to its website as if it’s some sort of big-shot Internet player that gets more than 17 hits on an average day.

The adverts began to appear earlier today. Screen Idle proprietor and all-round great guy Neil Tollfree defended them.

“Yeah, they’re pretty unobtrusive,” he claimed.

“And, you know, it’s 2020, your website looks a bit amateurish unless it’s got a banner ad across the top offering an incredibly dubious weight-loss method.”

The website’s token fan has stated that, aside from the delusions of grandeur, he’s not really that bothered.

“No, I’ll probably just ignore them, to be honest. I mean, if want to meet Russian women my age then I can just Google ‘Russian women,’ and I would imagine Google knows how old I am”

It is thought that Google’s advertising department are not planning on increasing any executive bonuses as a result of Screen Idle’s adoption of their Adsense platform.
