A large pile of deer carcases outside a Disney soundstage has led to speculation that the upcoming live-action Bambi film will prove to be quite dark.
“The stench was pretty overpowering,” said an insider who works on the Disney studio lot.
“So, I went to try and figure out where it was coming from and came across this huge pile of deer carcases. There must have been thirty or so, some were shot, others mutilated. It was pretty grim, to be honest.
“Then, it suddenly clicked. This must be where they’re making the new live-action version of Bambi. I guess that it’s going to be quite dark.”
Disney have confirmed that a new live-action Bambi is on the way, but made no explicit reference to the deer carcases.
“We are working on a new live-action Bambi,” said a spokesperson.
“And when we say live-action, we mean live-action. We took a lot of crap for using so much CGI in the live-action version of The Lion King. We’re not making that mistake again. You see a deer in the live-action version of Bambi, you’d better believe that deer is a real deer.
“Are there consequences to using live animals? Yes. But that’s what you get for criticising our ground-breaking CGI animals in The Lion King.”
The spokesperson refused to comment on whether a pile of dead mermaids meant that the new live-action version of The Little Mermaid had taken a similarly dark turn.
