As the Oscar nominations were announced, dismay turned to anger as it became apparent that Screen Idle film of 2017 Clowntergeist had received no nominations in any category.
Clowntergeist, which has been credited for renewing interest in both the clown and geist subgenres of film, was a strong favourite for multiple Oscar nominations in the mind of Screen Idle ‘honcho’ and sexy, sexy man Neil Tollfree.
“Well, yes, Call me by your Name is a wonderful exploration of burgeoning sexuality, but Clowntergeist has a clowntergeist in it,” said Tollfree as he combed crisps out of his hair.
“It seems that once again, the Oscars have taken the safe route by nominating a gay love story, a horror satire on racial politics and Boss Baby.
“Not including Clowntergeist just shows how out of touch the Academy is with the six or seven people who watched Clowntergeist.”
Tollfree believes that the most egregious omission was in the acting categories.
“There has never been, and I dare say there never will be a performance that wholly encapsulates the nature of a clowntergeist as brilliantly as seen in Clowntergeist. I would go as far as too say it is definitive.”
Tollfree has no intention of letting the matter lie, however.
“No, I’ll probably write a mildly amusing couple of hundred words about it that will be read by up to thirty or so people.”
“That’ll show them.”
