The latest expansion to long-running online adventure game World of Warcraft has been announced and has a surprisingly peaceful theme.
World of Warcraft: Everyone Makes Up will see everyone make up and agree to live nicely together as friends.
“One of the things I hear most from fans of the game is that they’re just tired of the constant war and fighting,” explained designer Jeff Kaplan.
“We thought about it and, to be honest, we agreed. Wouldn’t it be great if, instead having to go on a quest to fight an angry goblin, players had to go on a quest to find out what’s made the goblin so angry and then bake him a nice cake to cheer him up.
“So, that’s exactly what you’re going to get with this expansion.”
World of Warcraft: Everyone Makes Up will focus on quests in which the player has to do some shopping for an elderly Orc and babysit a young worgan.
Instead of huge 30-man raids in which players work together to defeat a giant dragon in the mountains, players will instead work together to set up a nice fete that everyone can enjoy.
“We’ve got a brief quest line in which the player has to go round to the other factions and go ‘hey, war is awful, so let’s all make up,’ and after that, everyone becomes friends and the whole world becomes just a nicer place.
“I think everyone’s going to love it.”
World of Warcraft: Everyone Makes Up will be released next year and, if rumours are to be believed, will be followed to a name change to World of Nicecraft.
