A new featurette for the forthcoming Cats adaptation is to detail the horrific surgery required to produce the terrifying half-actor/half-cat hybrids that feature in the film.
The featurette will focus on Dame Judi Dench as she arrived at the studio after having been cast as Old Deuteronomy.
She is welcomed into a luxurious waiting room and given a cup of coffee. Several minutes later, she passes out and an onscreen caption reveals the coffee was drugged.
She is stripped naked and carried into a sterile room where surgeons begin their work.
Firstly, the top of her skull is removed and replaced with a lightweight polymer sculpture of the top of a cat’s head.
We then see a laser electrolysis process inserting soft hair across her entire body to create the fur.
Her tail bone is extended through her skin and a tail is grafted onto it.
Finally, she is dipped in an industrial dye to give her a beautiful silver colour.
Dame Judi is then woken up and provided with a mirror to see her startling new look.
The featurette ends with one of Britain’s best-loved actors screaming into the camera at the horror that has been wreaked upon her body.
It is understood that, since filming has completed, Dame Judi and the rest of the cast can be found in an alley behind Leavesden’s Warner Brothers’ Studios fighting over a fish skeleton.
