New details have emerged of the sequel to Dr Strange and include the news that its correct name is Dr Strange and the Multiverse of Margate.
Initially announced as Dr Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, director Scott Derrickson has released details of the plot to clear up any confusion.
“Yeah, the whole thing is set in Margate,” he confirmed.
“I’m not sure where everyone got the madness thing from. Sounds horrible though, doesn’t it? Multiverse of Madness? No, I’m making the Multiverse of Margate, which should be a lot nicer.”
Derrickson went on to explain that the film begins with Dr Strange going on holiday to the popular British seaside resort.
“Yeah, Dr Strange is a bit tired from protecting earth from extra-dimensional threats so he decides to take a week in a bed and breakfast in Margate and have a donkey ride, play on the penny arcades and go for a paddle.”
However, he soon discovers that an unstable portal has opened, leading to an infinite number of Margates from other dimensions all bleeding into our own Margate.
“There’s an upside-down Margate, a monochrome Margate, a steam punk Margate and most terrifyingly of all – a dark Margate where all the ice-cream has melted and the penny arcades are surprisingly expensive.”
Dr Strange and the Multiverse of Margate is currently in pre-production and will release in 2021 in at least one dimension.
