New re-release of Star Wars uses state-of-the-art CGI to hide all old CGI

George Lucas has announced that a new re-release of Star Wars will feature newly developed state-of-the-art CGI that will be used to cover up and hide all the old CGI that was added to the film in the nineties.

“This new technology is incredibly exciting,” explained Lucas.

“For years now, I’ve been wanting to hide the CGI that was added to the picture back in the nineties, but the technology just wasn’t there.

“But now, after a lot of work, we’ve managed to develop the tech and it looks amazing.”

He went on to give an example.

“Yeah, so you’ve got the classic scene where Ben Kenobi uses a Jedi mind-trick on the stormtrooper so they’ll let him and Luke into Mos Eisley.

“Right now, in the background of that moment there’s these CGI spaceships zipping around and these computer-y looking aliens randomly farting and falling over, and the whole scene is just really cluttered and distracting.

“However, using this new CGI tech, we can replace all that pretty shoddy CGI with just desert and sky.

“And, with this new tech, it’s really convincing desert and sky. I mean, to look at it, you’d think it was real desert and sky, not computer-generated desert and sky.

“It makes the whole scene cleaner and less distracting and just better.”

Whilst Lucas intends to use this new CGI technology to remove the messy, distracting, and redundant CGI from the new re-release of Star Wars, he has no plans to do the same with any of the films from the prequel trilogy.

“No, there’s no way you could remove all the annoying, messy, and irritating CGI from the prequel trilogy,” he confirmed.

“You’d just be left with five minutes of Ewen Macgregor standing there with a bad haircut.”
