New Pokemon to be based on The West Wing’s President Bartlett

Nintendo has announced that one of the new Pokemon introduced in the upcoming Pokemon Shield will be based on The West Wing’s President Bartlett.

Bartlettchu will be a Fire Pokemon found in the towns and cities. His strengths include impassioned rhetoric, intellect and knowledge of national parks. His weaknesses are falling off bicycles, tormented Catholicism and an inability to stop talking about national parks.

“Bartlettchu will be a powerful addition to any Pokemon trainer’s collection,” explained game designer Shigeru Ohmori.

“He looks fantastic in his smart suit and ceremonial robes, and his impassioned rhetoric can prove as powerful as many other Pokemon physical attacks.

“Which, actually, really makes you think about the nature of words.”

Fans were excited.

“What I like about Bartlettchu is that it proves that the Pokemon designers aren’t running out of ideas and getting desperate,” explained Pokemon fan and leading economist Michael E. Porter.

“I’m sure he’ll be the best Pokemon ever.”

Bartlettchu joins other new Pokemon that are based on ex-House of Commons speaker John Bercow, Carly Simon, and the man who runs the shop round the corner from where Shigheru Ohmori lives.
