Following the huge success of Oppenheimer, a new Director’s Cut is to be released that will feature a brand new room that serious men talk in.
“What I think most surprised me and, I think, everyone, was just how much the public like to see serious men in rooms talking,” explained director Christopher Nolan.
“So, what I thought we’d do with this Director’s Cut is bring in a whole new room for serious men to talk in.”
The new room in question will be a small temporary block in which the whole town of Los Alamos was planned.
“We had a number of scenes featuring Oppie, Groves and a few of the others meeting in this little temporary office in the desert to plan and oversea the building of Los Alamos,” continued Nolan.
“They were good scenes. No CGI, built a real office. The men talking were really, really serious. Everything.
“Thing was, when we were putting together the film, we did think we had an awful lot of scenes in which serious men talk in rooms. It was actually my call, I said – No, we’ve got too many serious-men-talking-in-rooms scenes.
“Turns out I was wrong. People loved serious men talking in rooms and, if anything, we didn’t have enough serious men talking in rooms and so now we’re releasing this new cut with a whole new room for serious men to talk in.”
It also seems that the influence of Oppenheimer’s serious men talking in rooms has spread to the rest of the industry with Marvel retooling the new Captain America film so it’s just Cap and Fury in a room talking seriously and the new Star Wars trilogy will be about serious men talking in room a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.
