A brand-new documentary series called Crying Famous People is to feature a variety of famous people just crying.
The documentary follows on from successes such as Who Do You Think You Are? And Strictly Come Dancing that feature celebrities doing history or dancing and then crying.
“So, yeah, we looked at Who Do You Think You Are?” explained Crying Famous People creator Jeremy Bungabunga.
“It’s a great show. You know, you get Lisa Stansfield on and she goes to the library and learns that her Grandad was the back end of a pantomime cow and then she has a bit of a cry. Fantastic.
“What we realised, though, is that people were really responding to the crying rather than the history.”
It was this realisation that led to Mr Bungabunga creating the new format.
“What we’re doing with Crying Famous People is literally focusing on the famous person crying.
“We’ll start with the famous person introducing themselves and what they do, then they’ll explain where they are – their shed or bedroom or whatever – and then they’ll just cry for thirty minutes.”
Mr Bungabunga went on to say who will appear in the first series.
“We’ve got Amanda Holden, one of Westlife, can’t remember which, does it matter? Charlie Stayt off Breakfast News, a footballer – Gary something, Linda Lusardi, she’s great, really snotty, and we haven’t found a sixth one yet, so we’ll probably just get someone off Hollyoaks.”
Crying Famous People will, inevitably, be on Channel 5 and people will even end up watching it.
