Leaked images from the upcoming new Battlefield game appear to show players sitting around holding a discussion and then coming together to shake hands and hug.
An image of a huge variety of guns left in a skip can be seen as particularly instructive on the direction the new game will be taking.
“We knew that EA was planning something radically different with this new game to combat the Call of Duty juggernaut – and particularly their previous game’s hugely popular romance mode,” explained videogame blogger Kelly Grace.
“But I don’t think that anyone expected for them to abandon the first-person shooter gameplay that’s made them so famous. That’s what these images seem to show, though.”
One of the images shows 20-30 burly men and women in combat fatigues sat around a campfire respectfully listening to a man make an impassioned point.
Another shows two men in different uniforms with slightly damp eyes laughing and shaking hands.
There is also the aforementioned image of guns in a skip, in the background of which soldiers and mercenaries can be seen walking away with arms round each other’s shoulders.
EA have issued a brief statement on the images.
“The new game will focus on the thoughtful and healing ‘Reconciliation Mode’ – more details will be revealed nearly to the game’s release.”
Alongside the images, the subtitle also appeared to have been leaked and, as such, Battlefield: Hey, Let’s Talk This Thing Through will be the new instalment’s official name and will be released within a year.
