The recently released Holmes and Watson, which was described by one critic as being ‘so bad, it made my head fall off,’ is now thought most likely to be a Russian conspiracy to damage the West.
In recent times, the Russian state has been implicated in a number of different, potentially damaging conspiracies including tampering in elections, Luke Cage being cancelled, and the local shop constantly running out of that really nice ham that everyone likes.
“Holmes and Watson is a shattering experience,” said diplomacy expert Ben Freeman.
“The only real explanation for it is that it has been created with the specific aim of causing harm to the West, and I would see that the most likely source of the film is the Russian state.”
Whilst there has been no official denial of involvement in the film from Russia, a clip has surfaced on the Internet of President Vladimir Putin pointing at a Holmes and Watson poster and laughing uproariously.
It is thought unlikely that Mr Putin’s hilarity was as a result of having seen the actual film, as the only known person to have laughed during a screening of Holmes and Watson is Mrs Rachel Reilly, of Chelmsford, Essex, and she was simply recalling an episode of Fawlty Towers at the time.
If confirmed, it will be the first time the Russian state has used a film against the West since 2008’s twin salvo of The Love Guru and The Happening, widely thought to have brought about the global financial crash of that year.
