A Chelmsford man has claimed that having none of the three newly announced Doctor’s companions be a qualified plumber is simply not credible, and further claims that, despite him being a plumber, he has never once been considered for the role.
Bernard Rumbold, the 46-year-old plumber in question, has offered his services every year since the programme’s return in 2005
“It’s not on, really,” said Mr Rumbold
“I mean, I’ve watched all the episodes, I’m a plumber of 27 years’ experience, I can’t understand why they keep passing me over.”
“Alright, so maybe that Bradley Walsh can act and everything, but has he got an intricate working knowledge of toilets? I mean, I don’t want to have a go at him, but I suspect not. Whereas I have.”
Mr Rumbold went on to describe what he could bring to Doctor Who
“I mean, granted, in a tragic and moving moment, Walsh is probably going to be better equipped to play the emotional truth of the situation than me.”
“But if that Jodie Whittaker backs up the lavvy, and I’m her companion, then I can deal with it in a discrete and efficient manner.”
“You can’t tell me that a being like a timelord hasn’t blocked up their toilet once in all that great long life? Not credible.”
Mr Rumbold remains available should the Doctor Who production team come to their senses and decide to replace one of the new companions with a qualified plumber.
