Godzilla vs Kong 2 sees pair become reluctant partners in New York’s toughest police precinct

The Chief is furious. His face is red. He’s about to blow. But Officer Godzilla will not back down.

“I’m 252 million years old and I’m a thousand foot tall,” he shouts.

“I do not need a partner.”

The Chief slumps down into his chair.

“It’s a done deal Gods. Nothing either of us can do about it. Your new partner is King Kong!”

It’s clear from the scene being filmed that Godzilla vs Kong 2 is going to be a very different film to the 2021 original.

“The first picture was great, but it was a little simplistic, you know?” explained producer Kelly Grace.

“You know, two big monsters. They have a fight and, you know, everything sorts itself out. For the sequel, we wanted to force them to work through that conflict in a more mature way. We had to force them together in a way that wouldn’t allow them to just smack each other around in Tokyo to work it out.

“New York cops seemed the obvious choice.”

Grace went on to give an idea of what to expect.

“You know, they start of not liking each other then, as they work together to take down perps, Godzilla slowly comes to respect Kong’s way of smashing things up and roaring, and Kong starts to admire Godzilla’s ability to blast a nuclear laser beam from out of his mouth, and by the end, they’ve learnt a lot about the other and, perhaps, a lot about themselves as well.”

The plot of the film is being kept tightly under wraps, but it is thought likely that Godzilla and King Kong will discover that the corruption goes all the way up to City Hall and set out to bring everyone to justice using a combination of slick banter and shooting people.

Godzilla vs Kong 2: Back on the Beat is currently filming and a release date is, as yet, unconfirmed.
