Training Day

Ethan Hawke is a policeman and is all excited because he doesn’t have to wear his uniform anymore. Denzel Washington makes him smoke drugs and drink a beer and they drive about in Los Angeles having a lovely old time. Denzel wants to do a big crime, Ethan demurs, then someone gets shot in the bum and everything goes wrong.

Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke enjoyed each other’s company so much whilst making the film that they got married afterwards and remain together with four children

Doctor Dre accepted the offer of a cameo role because he was a big fan of trains and misheard the film’s title

The film originally culminated in a giant pie-fight between all the protagonists. This is available as a deleted scene on the DVD

The film was originally positioned as a spin-off of legendary British TV show – The Sweeney. In the opening scenes Ethan Hawke can be heard speaking with a cockney accent

Bloopers

In the scene in which Ethan Hawke has to chase down Snoop Dogg, several dinosaurs can be seen in the background. This is because it was filmed at the same time as Jurassic Park III.
