New characters Emma Peel and John Steed will join the team in Avengers: Infinity War after ITV threatened to sue Marvel Studios for using the TV series’ name for the last ten years.
The lawsuit suggested that the TV company is looking for half the total box office receipts, thought to be in the region of ten times all the money there is in the world.
Marvel’s Head of Cash Generation, Kevin Feige, said, “There are so many people in this movie already, it’s as good as makes no difference at this point. Cap, Iron Man, Black Widow, Black Panther, Spidey, the one who goes really small and really big, the guy who’s everyone knows is going to be Cap next and aren’t sure of his name, the Guardians, Santa, Masha and the Bear, the Octonauts, Orinoco and Bungo are already in it, so I might as well get in 30 seconds’ dialogue each for two more characters.
“Because of that, the story doesn’t make any blooming sense anyway, so I can’t see how pulling in two virtually unknown characters from a 1960’s TV series will do any harm.”
Original actress Diana Rigg will reprise her role as Emma Peel. The 79-year old Victoria actress said, “This is great news. Too much of my recent roles have had me sitting down an awful lot, so I’m looking forward to doing all my own stunts and, in particular, giving Captain America a damn good hiding!”
