The long awaited third film in the Babe trilogy will be released next year and given the director’s track record, is expected to receive an 18 rating from the BBFC.
In contrast with ‘Babe’ and ‘Babe: Pig In The City’, which both received a ‘U’ rating, the latest installment has come with a warning that the motion picture will contain strong language, graphic violence, and almost pornographic close ups of sizzling streaky bacon.
With Eli Roth revealed to be at the helm of the new porcine-focused film, nearly twenty years after ‘Pig In The City’ was released, critics and fans alike have expressed concern over the artistic direction the Hostel director might take; fears that seem to be well founded.
On the set of a disused abattoir, where the filming of the movie has just begun, Eli Roth told journalists “The world has moved on. We’ve moved on. And more importantly, Babe has grown up and now faces new, adult challenges.
“This movie opens with the funeral of farmer Hoggett following an unfortunate incident involving a horse, and sees Babe hit hard times and forced to sell illicit catnip on the streets to feed his family.
“After a deal with a group of Persian cats goes sour, our pink hero is taken captive and threatened with being turned into some delicious rashers of bacon at the hands of a group of sadistic abattoir employees.
“This is a heart-warming but gruesome tale of lunatics wielding meat cleavers, fetid animal carcasses and the ever present threat of our hero waking up to find himself slashed into pork chops.
“Which, in keeping with the first two films, is a storyline that the whole family can relate to and enjoy.
“If they are over eighteen, or have very permissive parents, that is.”
There are reports that some cinemas have partnered with pork scratching retailers to provide a fully immersive experience for viewers.
