The DVD release of Into the Spider-verse will feature a director’s cut that will add two new versions of Spiderman from different dimensions.
Spider-wardrobe comes from a dimension populated by sentient furniture and Spider-Ken Clarke comes from a dimension populated by sentient politicians.
“Oh man, it was a tough decision to leave Spider-Ken Clarke and Spider-wardrobe out of the theatrical release,” said director Peter Ramsey.
“Spider-wardrobe just has this real sweetness that infects everyone, he sees the world in the simple way that any sentient wardrobe would and, man, the way he defeats the bad guys by just falling on them cracks me up.
“Spider-Ken Clarke just adds this real weight to the picture, you know, he’s an old guy, he’s served in several British governments, he’s got a real credibility.
“But he also smokes cigars and drinks whisky, so he has kind of a tough time keeping up with all the others.”
Mr Ramsey also revealed they had plans for version of Spiderman from even stranger dimensions.
“Sure – Spider-Batman, Spider-Gas, Spider-B-side of John Coltrane’s Love Supreme – we had some pretty out-there plans. To be honest, I still think we could have fitted in Spider-Atom but, you know, we are where we are.”
The home release of Into the Spider-verse is due out later this year. However, sadly, the director’s cut featuring Spider-wardrobe and Spider-Ken Clarke will not be available in this reality.
