Death Stranding, the new game from Metal Gear Solid legend Hideo Kojima will be set entirely up someone’s nose.
The newly revealed location for the game probably goes to show something, although it is unclear what that will be.
“It was important that Death Stranding unnerves the player,” explained Kojima.
“What better way to do so than to set it up a human being’s nose. But whose nose? Who knows.”
The unsettling location is designed to install a sense of the uncanny in the player.
“The key question that will form in the player’s mind will be ‘is this game set up my own nose?’ and what could be more unnerving and unsettling than controlling videogame players who exist up one’s own nose.”
The news that the game is set up someone’s nose is that latest in a long line of peculiar revelations about the game that include a baby in a jar as a gateway to the other side, urinating to create mushrooms, all the characters being called Jeff, a soundtrack consisting of nothing more than the opening bars to a Roxette song played on repeat and giant flamboyant giraffes everywhere.
However, Kojima insists that the game isn’t simply a pretentious litany of irritatingly odd concepts, but is, in fact, a complex work of profound art.
“Of course it is,” he claimed
“It’s just that you all probably won’t understand it.”
