Terrence Malick has become the latest American cinematic titan to give his opinion on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, by stating the he believes the movies to be bitchin’ and particularly enjoys Thor.

His comments come the wake of both Francis Ford Coppola and Martin Scorsese claiming that Marvel films are ‘not cinema’ and that everyone should go and see really long films about men in suits being unpleasant to each other in the fifties.

“Screw that, Marvel movies are bitchin’,“ said the legendary Tree of Life director.

“Particularly Thor. Man, that dude is the s**t. He’s got the big hammer and he can drink all the beer. Thor is excellent.”

Malick went on the address the point made by both Coppola and Scorsese that Marvel films were not cinema.

“No, they totally are, because you go to the theatre to watch them.

“You do. I mean, we were all making A Hidden Life and one day, dealing with all the existential philosophy of the nature of man got a bit much, so we went and saw Spiderman: Far From Home at the theatre.

“It was great, although it could have used more Thor.

“So, you know, they’re definitely cinema or you wouldn’t need to go to the theatre to watch them.”

It is understood that, despite his professed love of the Marvel films, Malick is unlikely to be directing any Phase 4 films.

It is rumoured though, that the character of an attractive man with god-like powers, magnificent hair and a big hammer was introduced into A Hidden Life in tribute to Thor.
