Concern that next year’s moody lesbian period drama isn’t quite moody enough

The finishing touches to next year’s moody lesbian period drama are being applied, but there are rumours emerging that it might not be quite moody enough for people who enjoy a good moody lesbian period drama.

“I don’t know,” explained one insider.

“On the surface, it seems fine. We’ve got a well-respected British actress, and an up-and-coming American doing an accent, and they’re both wearing really convincing bonnets. There’s loads of storm clouds and blasted heaths, and the two women moon about a lot. Loads of stealing glances at each other across crowded drawing rooms full of uptight society people. So, you know, everything you need for a good moody lesbian period drama.

“Thing is, though, it keeps getting quite light-hearted and fun. For every moody glance at each other, there’s another scene where the pair of them are having a nice time flying a kite, or enjoying a picnic, or just having a lovely old time having it off with each other.

“It could be a bit too much for some people.”

The moody lesbian period drama will chart the growing attraction between a young society woman visiting her aunt in Wales and a local hat maker whose lesbian ways make her brilliant at making hats.

“There is a lot of concern at the studio about how much fun there is in the picture,” continued the insider.

“And there is even talk of recutting the film to take out some of the fun scenes and shoot a new scene of the English actress sobbing as she makes a nice hat.

“I think that’s probably a good move because I really don’t think the public are ready for a jolly lesbian period drama just yet.”

The Hat-Maker’s Corridor is currently scheduled to be released next year.
