There are calls for root and branch reform of all strands of film criticism after appraisal of The Greatest Showman failed to notice that it was awesome on every level.
Despite every man, woman and child who has seen the film bloody loving it, the aggregated score remains a lowly 48.
“Something has gone terribly wrong with critical appraisal,” said Hugh Williams, a normal person who obviously bloody loved The Greatest Showman because why wouldn’t you?
“Almost all reviews dealt with deficiencies in character and plot but completely ignored that fact that the whole thing is utterly awesome.”
“I don’t think that it’s fair to single out individual critics as I think that it’s clear that there is something wrong with the system and it needs wholesale reform from top to bottom.”
It has been suggested that many people have different opinions and that some people will enjoy certain films whereas others won’t.
“Normally, that’s an argument I can understand,” insisted Mr Williams.
“But with The Greatest Showman? It just makes no sense, because it’s obviously awesome.”
Mr Williams set out exactly what was needed when it came to reform of film criticism.
“Well, they just all need to say that The Greatest Showman is awesome, really.”
“That should do it.”
