‘Call of Duty: Let’s Be Friends’ showcases new direction for the franchise

The next instalment in the Call of Duty franchise will be named Call of Duty: Let’s Be Friends and will showcase a bold new direction for the series.

For the past twenty years, the series has been largely focused on men shooting other men in the face. This new game promises to abandon that traditional gameplay for a set of game mechanics based around making friends with other men.

“It’s the one thing fans are constantly asking us,” explained lead designer Stewart James.

“’Instead of having to shoot this other man in the face, why can’t I make friends with him?’ Well, from now on, you can.”

The single player campaign will feature a man who lives on his own and is a bit lonely. So, he embarks on an exciting campaign to make friends.

“It’s fairly open. You can choose to go to the pub, join a local club or just knock on your neighbour’s door. Then you just go up to people and press ‘X’ to say hello, or ‘O’ to crack a joke, or you can just choose to stand near another group of men and listen in to their conversation. It’s kind of a stealth mechanic.”

There will also be a multiplayer mode.

“That’s a completely new idea. There are 80 players, you all enter a multiplayer arena and then have a nice chat. There is no scoring or power-ups and the winner is whoever feels like they made the deepest connection with someone else.”

Call of Duty: Let’s Be Friends is will be available next Autumn and, should it prove popular, will be followed by Call of Duty: Fancy a Pint? And Call of Duty: Would You and The Wife Like To Come To Dinner.
