Brief twenty-minute period discovered on BBC without Michael Portillo doing train documentary

A brief period of around twenty minutes has been discovered when Michael Portillo isn’t on the BBC doing some sort train-based documentary.

The twenty-minute slot occurs on Thursdays at 02.10 on BBC2 and was discovered by insomniac Michael Reeve.

“Yeah, it was weird,” said Mr Reeve.

“I was just flicking around channels and I suddenly became aware that I hadn’t noticed Portillo for a while.

“It was an odd sensation, and not one I’d experienced before, so I checked the TV listings and sure enough, Michael Portillo Arses About on a Train finished at ten past two and Wearing Red Trousers on a Train with Michael Portillo didn’t start until half two.

“Ironically, my insomnia has turned me quite mad, so now I genuinely enjoy Michael Portillo documentaries about trains and was, therefore, pretty disappointed to find there wasn’t one on for that brief period.”

The BBC has immediately apologised.

“Obviously, it part of the BBC remit to feature round-the-clock documentaries featuring Michael Portillo on a train,” said a corporation representative.

“So, we will hold an internal enquiry how this oversight has occurred and when we find the person responsible, they will be humanely destroyed.”

An episode of Michael Portillo Being Posh on a Train is almost certainly on now and will most likely be followed immediately by Looking Out of a Window on the Train with Michael Portillo.
