Barbie Movie could potentially produce spin-off toy line

The increasingly hyped-up Barbie Movie could have potential to produce a spin-off toy line that could rival Star Wars, according to producers.

“Okay, so, you look at the chick, this ‘Barbie’, now, I don’t know, but imagine you’re a nine-year-old girl, you go see the picture, you have a great time, so you want a ‘Barbie’ all of your own, so you go to the store and you buy a toy version of the ‘Barbie’,” said producer Stewart James.

“You then want a ‘Ken’ action figure because you like the Ryan Gosling. I mean the potential here is huge. If this picture is successful, if we can get some toys out there – Barbie, Ken, their house, their milliner, their local sewage-processing centre. Huge, I tell you.”

However, others were sceptical.

“A Barbie action figure? How does that even work?” said toy expert Kelly Grace

“I mean, with Star Wars, you get to recreate battles, and escapes from the Death Star. What are you going to do with a Barbie? Have her go and get her hair done? Go to school? I don’t know, what kids are going to want that sort of thing when they spend their evenings doing 100-player, online Call of Duty death-matches?

“This seems like a bad idea to me, and I’d leave the whole thing well alone.”

The Barbie spin-off toy line has yet to be announced, but only time will tell whether or not it will be as successful as the Transformers spin-off set of toys or as disastrous as the infamous Power of the Dog toys.
