The next film in the Avatar franchise will be Avatar: Flour and Sugar. It will see Jake and his family move to the baking area of Pandora where the local Na’vi make all the bread and cakes for the planet.
“We have explored so much of Na’vi culture,” explained director James Cameron.
“But not yet their baking culture. This is something I’ve been aware of from the start. There is a rich culture of baking on Pandora, and they make breads and fancy cakes and even strange alien things like cronuts.”
The film opens immediately after the events of Avatar: Fire and Ash, which was about the Na’vi tradition of barbecues. After finishing a nice barbecue, Jake’s family want something sweet and so set off on a quest to get some cake.
They arrive in the baking area of Pandora and Kiri immediately discovers a talent for baking. The baking area allows for some eye-popping visuals, as is traditional in the franchise.
“We really have only just reached the point where we have the technology to depict Na’vi baking onscreen,” continued Cameron.
“We simply couldn’t have done this for the first film. The first time you see Na’vi Baked Alaska, it’ll take your breath away. It’s like no Baked Alaska you’ll have ever seen before. The soufflés? You won’t believe what you are seeing. Even simple things like English muffins and seedy bread look spectacular. It’s everything you wanted to see from Pandoran baking.”
Avatar: Flour and Sugar will be followed by Avatar: Fast and Furious, which sees Jake and his family get into Pandoran street racing and then Avatar: Whips and Chains, which explores the Pandoran bondage scene.
