Jake and his family have been involved in epic, tragic battles over the course of Jake’s time on Pandora, but they’ve never taken time to have a barbecue…until now.
“I can reveal that, as most people would have guessed by now, Avatar: Fire and Ash is about Jake and Neytiri enjoying a nice barbecue,” explained director James Cameron.
“You know, they’ve been through a lot, so they decide to get friends and family round and cook up some burgers and sausages.”
The film will begin with Jake and Neytiri in a supermarket, meticulously recreated in stunning CGI, buying beer and wine, because you never can be sure what people will want. They buy several packs of sausages and burgers and a single, cursory pack of green leaf salad that will certainly remain unopened, and head back home.
Once there, Jake sets to work getting the barbecue started.
As ever with the Avatar series, it will use ground-breaking CGI to depict the most realistic barbecue ever seen on film before.
“Wētā FX have been working on the tech to realistically depict barbecues on screen for the past five years and people are going to be blown away by this. We simply wouldn’t have been able to make this film ten years ago, but Wētā really have surpassed themselves. It’s as if we’ve filmed an actual real barbecue. Incredible.”
The film will go on to feature friends coming round, bringing drinks and nice puddings, enjoying the burgers and sausages in the garden and then going home, leaving Jake and Neytiri to clean up, which they decide to do the following day.
Avatar: Fire and Ash cost over 20 bazillion pounds to make, and will run for five and a half hours. It will release in December and people will even probably go and see it.
