2018 Oscars theme to be how understandable it is not to notice dreadful things

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that the theme for next year’s Oscars will be ‘It’s understandable if you don’t notice dreadful things happening right under your nose.’

“No, there’s no specific reason for picking this particular theme,” said a representative for the Academy.

“It’s just that all over the world in all walks of life dreadful things maybe going on, which is just awful.”

“But we just want to shine a light on the institutions in which those dreadful things may be happening and point out that it’s pretty understandable if those institutions don’t notice the dreadful things.”

The evening will feature a collection of original songs ‘Shocked,’ ‘Never could be expected to know,’ and ‘Time for real change,’ and will feature an amusing series of skits about a nice man just going about his business whilst a series of dreadful things happen without him noticing.

Which is completely understandable.

“No, there is definitely no agenda here,” continued the executive.

“It’s just an old fashioned celebration of talent and being understandably oblivious to things.”
