Virtue Signalling Alert! Barbie movie casts woman in lead role

Margot Robbie. Black and white. From chest upwrds. Looks quite glum. Barbie movie.

In yet another sop to the ever more pervasive woke culture that permeates Hollywood now, the lead role in the upcoming Barbie film has been given to a woman.

“That’s just sad, frankly,” said Stewart James, a man who believes that women should be equal but it’s all getting a bit over the top now.

“You know, there’s some really good actors out there – Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, Jeff Bridges, and loads of others. You cast any of them as the lead in a film and you know it’s going to be a big hit; it’s going to be quality. But, like with so many films now, they have to be woke and make a woman the lead role. Brilliant, well done, that’ll fix everything.

“The worst thing though is that they try and tell you they’ve just cast the best person for the role! Come on, Margot Robbie is no way a better actor than Robert DeNiro. Have you seen Raging Bull? He’s amazing in that.

So, no, I won’t be going to see this new Barbie movie to support their whole woke agenda, thank you.”

Dean James was another man who found himself frustrated by the casting.

“Why does everything have to be about politics nowadays?” he said.

“I mean, this is the Barbie film. It should just be a bit of fun so don’t try and make a big political point about how feminist you are by casting a woman in the lead role. I’m getting a bit fed up with it all now, to be honest.”

It’s not the first time director Greta Gerwig has used one of her films to push her radical feminist agenda, with her last film all but shutting out men by casting SIX women in the lead roles and only finding room for a man in a supporting role.
