‘Three Men and a Lay-by’ sees the guys return to look after an abandoned lay-by

The classic eighties comedy Three Men and a Baby is getting an unexpected reboot/sequel with Three Men and a Lay-by.

Now well into their seventies, Jack, Peter and Micheal still share the same apartment in Central Park West. They lead a quiet life gentle bantering over games of chess and whose turn it is with the young physical therapy nurse who comes in once a week.

Their pleasant routine is shattered one morning when Michael discovers that someone has left a lay-by just outside their front door.

“Of course, no one is happy to have a lay-by in Central Park West, the traffic flow just can’t handle it,” explains director Martin Scorsese.

“More than that, most Americans don’t even know what a lay-by is. It’s a distinctly British piece of road landscape. Still, it’s there. It’s a lay-by with a burger van and a single toilet. Once again, we see the guys’ kind hearts touched and they take responsibility for that lay-by. They clean the toilet, mow the lawn. They do their very best to make the lay-by happy and welcome.”

The story then has Jack, Peter and Michael try to track down who left the lay-by outside their apartment, and that investigation leads them right back to England and some familiar characters from the classic second film Three Men and a Little Lady.

“I’m not going to give too much away if I say that whilst in England, Peter had a brief dalliance with a British road-planning firm that resulted in the lay-by,” continued the legendary director.

“But how they handle that situation? What becomes of the lay-by? You’ll have to watch the film to find out.”

Three Men and Lay-by reunites the old cast of Ted Danson, Steve Guttenburg, and Tom Selleck and sees the legendary, chameleonic actress Meryl Streep take on the role of the lay-by.
