The new trailer for Robert Eggers’ new film The Lighthouse has been revealed, and scenes with the tap-dancing penguins have proved divisive amongst film fans.

“I don’t know if there’s any place for tap-dancing penguins in a taught psychological drama with supernatural elements,” tweeted @blackphillip

However, in contrast, horror fan and Presidential hopeful Bernie Saunders was impressed.

“I like to see the dancing penguins,” explained the New York senator.

“I enjoyed Eggers’ previous film The Witch very much, but I think it could have been much improved with a nice singing and dancing woodland animal scene.”

Eggers has gone on to confirm that the trailer is representative of the film.

“Yes, we have tap-dancing penguins in The Lighthouse,” he explained

“I’m a big fan of the two Happy Feet movies. I mean, who isn’t, right?

“So if I’m making a picture set around a lighthouse then I’m definitely taking the opportunity to put in some dancing penguins.”

The Lighthouse will be released in October and is expected to feature a tie-in promotional campaign with McDonalds that will allow children to collect several different official the Lighthouse toy penguins that tap-dance when you wind them up.
