Screen Idle writer releases free sitcom and thinks he’s all that

The writer of popular well-it’s-not-as-funny-as-viz website Screen Idle was today going about like he’s all that after releasing a free five-part sitcom as a podcast.

The sitcom, called Greatest Hits, concerns a pair of rock stars who have moved to the country. The episodes are a perfect length to cover a short walk to the station or a long visit to the toilet.

Neil Tollfree, Screen Idle’s writer, wouldn’t shut up about it.

“Yeah, made a sitcom so, you know, I guess that makes me a bit of a polymath,” he said, to the increasingly small group of people still willing to listen.

“I suppose that, in many ways, I’m just like Lady Gaga. She does her award-winning acting and singing and I do a website and a free sitcom which is, if you think about it, similarly impressive.

“In fact, thinking about it, I’m actually a computer programmer as well so that’s three things and Lady Gaga’s only got two.

“Does that make me better than Lady Gaga? Not for me to say. But three is definitely more than two.”

The sitcom – Greatest Hits – is available for free on ITunes and whatever advert-riddled spyware that Android owners use to listen to podcasts.

It is currently thought to be the only podcast that doesn’t feature an advert for shaving products.

So, there’s that.
