The team behind 1989’s bouncer classic Road House have offered their congratulations to James Cameron after Avatar: The Way of Water surpassed Road House’s box office on its way to potentially becoming the biggest film of all time.
“Congrats to Jim and the Avatar team,” tweeted Rowdy Herrington, director of Roadhouse.
“In the words of Wade Garrett – ‘I thought you’d be bigger’ – and you were.”
It isn’t the first movie to eclipse Road House’s box office take, but as it could potentially go on to become the biggest film of all time, so the Road House team decided to reach out.
“Yeah, we wanted to say something about how Way of Water has managed to beat Road House,” explained producer Joel Silver.
“Seemed the classy thing to do, and like Dalton says – ‘be nice.’”
“I mean, you know, I’m not saying that if they had a few more roundhouse kicks and dudes pulling out other dudes’ throats in their film then they might actually beat Avengers: Endgame. But they decided to go with lots of swimming instead so, you know, good luck to them.”
The producers of Avatar: The Way of Water have yet to respond to the Road House team’s congratulations, which seems to show that, in terms of class, Road House is still way ahead of Way of the water which, many would agree, makes it the real biggest film of all time.
